Onboard as an Education-Based Agent with PPs
Why Choose PPs?

If you’re new to real estate in South Africa, your journey starts as a candidate property practitioner, formerly called an intern estate agent. To begin, you need to secure a position with a registered agency, register with the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA), and hold a valid Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC).
We guide you through every step of this process—helping you onboard with PPs, get registered, complete your required qualifications, and move from intern to full-status agent. If your goal is to become a Principal Property Practitioner, we help you achieve that too.
What We Offer
We don’t just help you meet the minimum requirements—we give you the tools to thrive.
As part of your onboarding, you’ll also get:
- You receive full access to the PPs Agent Portal giving you the tools you need to succeed
- Introductory courses with training manuals, videos, and quizzes
- Annual FIC compliance course and required documents
- Real estate contracts with training on how to use them correctly
- Ongoing support for each stage of your qualification and registration
Your Path to Qualification
- Start Your Internship
Once you have your first FFC, you’ll begin a 12-month internship.
You’ll complete a legislated Intern Logbook, which must be submitted to the PPRA on month 6 after your FFC is issued. As your principal, we give you the required course material, help you work through it, and sign off your logbook when you’re ready. - Complete the NQF4 Real Estate Qualification
After your logbook is approved, you move on to your NQF4 course. This qualification takes around 6 months to complete through an accredited provider. If you already have an NQF6 qualification in any field, you may be exempt. Once you finish the course, you’ll wait approximately 3 months for SSETA certification. - Write the PDE4 Exam
Once your certification is received, your PPRA portal will be upgraded so you can register for the Professional Designation Exam Level 4 (PDE4). This is an open-book, full-day exam set quarterly by the PPRA. Results are released in about 8 weeks, after which you can upgrade your FFC to Full Status / Non-Principal. - Move Toward Principal Status
If you want to manage your own agency, the next step is the NQF5 Real Estate qualification, which takes around 5 months, plus 3 months for SSETA verification. To be exempt from this qualification you must hold a NQF7 in any field. After that, you’ll register for the PDE5 exam, the final step in becoming a Principal Property Practitioner.
What we do:
We take the confusion out of the process—supporting you with practical training, legal compliance, course planning, logbook supervision, and exam readiness so you can stay on track from start to finish.
What you do:
Show up with commitment, complete your learning journey, and grow confidently into your career as a fully qualified, compliant property practitioner.
Education Based FFC
Our programme is designed to give you the best possible start in your property career.
You’ll be appointed as an independent contractor under our umbrella, allowing you to focus fully on learning, qualifying, and gaining confidence before trading. During the training phase, property trading and commission claims using the PP’s FFC are prohibited.
As part of the registration process with the PPRA, we ask that you sign a commissioned Affidavit confirming this arrangement, a straightforward and protective formality.
Once you’re ready to trade, we’re here to help, whether that means placing you with an agency or supporting you in opening your own. Terms and conditions apply, and guidance is always available.
Your Costs
- PPs Annual Fee: R5,000 ex VAT (mentoring, compliance & ongoing support)
- Optional Add-On: Education Exemption Application: R2 000
