How to Renew Your FFC with the PPRA
Your FFC will have the year that it expires displayed on it.
In terms of Section 47 of the Property Practitioners Act No 22 of 2019, all property practitioners must apply to the Authority to issue them an FFC for the next three-year cycle before 31 October of that year.
What forms and documents form part of the renewal application?
- Complete the PPRA application form on their website. When you complete this form, take your time, complete it properly and neatly, and check it before sending it.

- Pay the appropriate fee as stipulated on the Fee Schedule on the PPRA website. When you pay the PPRA, ONLY use your seven-digit PIN as the reference.

The Principal Property Practitioner must also submit the following on behalf of the estate agency firm:
- SARS clearance certificate.
- B-BBEE certificate or affidavit, whichever applies unless the firm is a sole proprietor.
In terms of Regulation 41.19, all property practitioners (other than sole proprietors) who are natural persons are deemed exempt from the provision of S50 (vii) of the Act from submitting a tax clearance certificate upon applying for an FFC.
In terms of Regulation 41.20, all property practitioners who are natural persons are deemed exempt from the provision of S50(x) of the Act from submitting a B-BBEE certificate upon applying for the FFC.
If your FFC shows an expiry date of 2025, it is only due in 2025.
What are the PPRA BEE regulations?
EME estate agency firms do not have to submit any BEE form.
QSE estate agency firms must submit a BEE Affidavit.
Generic estate agency firms must submit a BB-BEE Compliance Certificate.

Turnover less than R2.5m/annum - QSE
Annual turnover is more than R2.5m but less than R35m. - Generic
Annual turnover in excess of R35m.
How do I submit my renewal application form and my proof of payment?
Its always good to duplicate your submission by:
- Uploading it to your PPRA MyPortal. Look on the right side bar and upload it under Log a Query. Choose the dropdown FFC, and upload your renewal application form and your POP.
You will receive an automated reference number, make a note of this number and of the date that the query was logged.

When must I submit my renewal application?
The FFC renewal period generally commences on 1 July of that year and must be submitted by 31 October of that year.

If the practitioner has not renewed his FFC first, check with your Principal before submitting. If your principal has not received his new FFC certificate, all the agents in the firm will be delayed, which will cause frustration.
Late submissions are penalized in accordance with the Act. In terms of Regulation 23, governed by Sect 32(3) of the Act, late submissions attract a monthly penalty of R142.
When you initially applied for your first FFC Section 50 of the Act stipulated that no persons were allowed to be issued a FFC:
- with criminal convictions involving dishonesty or
- in which imprisonment was imposed without the option of a fine,
- improper conduct,
- dismissal from position of trust,
- not of sound mind,
- who are unrehabilitated insolvents,
- who are guilty of discrimination,
- who have not submitted tax and BEE certificates unless exempted (see automatic exemptions),
- who are training non-compliant,
- or who have had a claim paid by the FF as a result of the practitioner’s conduct.
This applies to your renewal as well, and if you are guilty of any of the above your FFC will immediately be rendered invalid and subject to immediate recall by the PPRA.
