Candidate Six Month Practical – Demystified

Demystifying PPRA Practical Modules

With the replacement of the SAQA Real Estate qualifications on 1 July 2024 and the new PPRAct, education, particularly the Intern Logbook, was thrown into uncertainty.

At Property Principal Services, we focus on making life for the real estate property practitioner simple.

Let’s Demystify the Logbook replacement “Candidate Six Month Practical”

As of 1 July 2024, the PPRA no longer accept Logbooks.

Intern/Candidate property practitioners who held a FFC before 1 July 2024:

If you started your FFC before 1 July 2024, you must submit your Logbook to your Principal or Mentor and complete or be found exempt from completing your NQF4 Real Estate SAQA ID 59097 qualification. You then complete your PDE4 and be awarded Non-Principal Property Practitioner status.

Candidate property practitioners who held a FFC from 1 July 2024:

Candidates who achieved their first FFC after the 1st of July 2024 are only required to complete their NQF4 Real Estate SAQA ID 118714 qualification.  This can only be completed with a SSETA accredited provider.  These candidates are NOT REQUIRED to complete the six-month practical training course, as it forms part of your six-month NQF4 qualification.

Once you have completed your workplace modules, your mentor or principal and you will sign the standard template and email it to the PPRA at practicaltraining@theppra.org.za.  We suggest uploading it to your MyPortal as a query and achieving a reference number.  The PPRA will issue a letter of approval once it has received confirmation that the practical training course modules have been completed in full.

Once they have completed their NQF4 118714 qualification, they must complete their PDE4 and be awarded Non-Principal Property Practitioner status.

Candidate property practitioners who held an FFC from 1 July 2024 and are EXEMPT from completing their NQF4 118714 qualification:

If you have been found exempt from the NQF4 118174 qualification, you must still complete the six-month practical within 180 days of being issued an FFC.  This is required because these candidates would not have been previously exposed to practical real estate training.

This training can be done as a course in which you must be mentored by your principal-agent or a mentor who has been in full status for at least six months.

You can purchase this course from an accredited provider or a trainer who can verify that your principal or mentor actively participated in your training.

Once completed, your mentor or principal and you will sign the standard template and email it to the PPRA at practicaltraining@theppra.org.za, upload it to your MyPortal as a query, and achieve a reference number.  The PPRA will issue a letter of approval once it has received confirmation that the

practical training course modules have been completed in full.

Then, you can register and write your PDE4.  After that, you will achieve non-principal property practitioner status.
