“We exploded into the property development market and became stakeholders in most of the property developments we were involved in. This allowed us to secure sole selling and rental mandates and manage the body corporates,” Alexander explains.
A new challenge – and a new disruption – followed in 2014 with the launch of PropAcademy. With property practitioners having to meet a host of statutory educational requirements in order to participate in the industry, Alexander founded PropAcademy. This online educational service enabled practitioners to meet their educational obligations easily and cost-effectively.
Now, another challenge in the property industry has emerged. It has become increasingly difficult and time-consuming for practitioners – already burdened by exceptionally difficult market conditions – to comply with the education regulations imposed by the new Property Practitioners Act and regulated by the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority, the PPRA. Many practitioners, often through no fault of their own, find themselves in contravention of the Act.
